What is the Family Information Service (FIS)?

The Family Information Service is part of the Early Years and Family Support Services Team of Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council. We are based at Ty Trevithick, Abercynon, CF45 4UQ. The FIS is a statutory requirement and every local authority in Wales is required to have one. The FIS was set up to provide information to parents, carers and professionals living and working in Rhondda Cynon Taf on all aspects of childcare facilities e.g. childminders, day nurseries, parent and toddler groups etc. In addition the service is now expanding to include all family information in view of the 2006 Childcare Act.

Who can register with the FIS?
Anyone from childminders to day nurseries, to out of school clubs and parent and toddler groups.

What are the advantages of being on the FIS database?
The FIS can:

  • Provide information to enquirers about your services free of charge
  • Inform childcare providers of grants and training opportunities
  • Act as a point of contact for information on other services relevant to your profession
  • Provide information on relevant subject/issues affecting children/adults e.g. child protection, events, parenting support, services for disabled children etc.
  • Provide information on settings registered to provide pre-school education i.e. Foundation Curriculum

What does the FIS do with the information held on the database?
This information is used to answer caller's enquiries. We provide the following information in the form of a word processed list containing: contact name, name of provision, telephone number, opening hours as well as the information you provide us by completing a FIS questionnaire. We also use the information for statistical purposes to meet demand for childcare. Personal addresses are never disclosed; they are only used for correspondence purposes by the FIS. All information held about you and your service is covered by the Data Protection Act 1998.

How does the FIS provide the information to enquirers?
The information can be given over the telephone, in writing or by email.

Where does the FIS get its information?
  • The Care and Social Services Inspectorate for Wales (CSSIW) notifies the FIS of all registered childcare provision in Rhondda Cynon Taf
  • Unregistered childcare provision is notified in a variety of ways
  • Completion of a FIS questionnaire

How can Childcare providers ensure that the correct information is held by the FIS?
  • By completing the enclosed FIS questionnaire and returning it in the freepost envelope provided
  • By informing the FIS of any changes e.g. telephone number, change of personnel
  • By the FIS contacting providers We will only provide information about you/your service in accordance with your wishes.

Yn ôl y gyfraith, mae’n ofynnol bod pob awdurdod lleol yng Nghymru yn cynnal gwasanaeth o’r math yma. Cafodd Gwasanaeth Gwybodaeth i Deuluoedd ei sefydlu i roi gwybodaeth i rieni, cynhalwyr, ac arbenigwyr sy’n byw ac yn gweithio yn Rhondda Cynon Taf ynglyn â gwasanaethau carco plant megis carcwyr, methrinfeydd oriau dydd, cylchoedd rhieni a phlant bach ac ati. Yn ogystal â hynny, yn sgîl Deddf Gofal Plant 2006 mae’r gwasanaeth yn ehangu’i ddarpariaeth i gynnwys pob math o wybodaeth i deuluoedd.

Pwy sy’n cael cofrestru â’r GGD?
Mae modd i unrhyw un boed yn garcwyr plant i feithrinfeydd oriau dydd, clybau ôl-oriau ysgol a chylchoedd rhieni a plentyn i gofrestru â’r gwasanaeth.

Os oes diddordeb gyda chi i gofrestru â’r GGD, byddwch gystal â llenwi’r ffurflen briodol yn adran "Ffurflenni Darparwr Gofal Plant", o glicio ar y ddolen gyswllt ar y chwith.

Beth yw manteision cynnwys eich enw ar gronfa ddata’r GGD?
Mae modd i Wasanaeth Gwybodaeth i Deuluoedd:

  • Rhoi gwybodaeth am geisiadau ynglŷn â’ch gwasanaethau yn rhad ac am ddim
  • Rhoi gwybod i ddarparwyr gofal plant am gyfleoedd hyfforddi a grantiau
  • Dolen gyswllt i gael rhagor o wybodaeth am wasanaethau eraill sy’n briodol i’ch maes.
  • Rhoi gwybodaeth ar bynciau/materion perthnasol sy’n effeithio ar blant/oedolion e.e. diogelu plant, achlysuron, cymorth i rieni, gwasanaethau ar gyfer plant anabl ac ati.
  • Rhoi gwybodaeth am ganolfannau sy wedi’u cofrestru i ddarparu addysg cyn oedran ysgol megis y Cwricwlwm Sylfaen

I ba ddibenion mae GGD yn cadw’r wybodaeth ar gronfa ddata?
Mae’r wybodaeth ar gyfer ateb cwestiynau pobl sy’n cysylltu â ni. Rydyn ni’n darparu’r wybodaeth ganlynol ar bapur iddyn nhw: enw cyswllt, enw’r ddarpariaeth, rhif ffôn, oriau agor yn ogystal â’r wybodaeth ychwanegol rydych chi wedi’i nodi ar yr holiadur. Yn ogystal â hynny, rydyn ni’n defnyddio’r wybodaeth i ddibenion ystadegau ac i fesur y galw am wasanaethau carco plant. Dydyn ni ddim yn rhoi manylion eich cyfeiriad cartref i neb – rydyn ni’n ei gadw fel bo modd inni gysylltu â chi. Mae’r wybodaeth amdanoch chi a’ch gwasanaeth yn bodloni gofynion Deddf Diogelu Data 1998.

O ble daw’r wybodaeth?
  • Mae Arolygiaeth Gofal a Gwasanaethau Cymdeithasol Cymru (AGGCC) yn rhoi gwybod i GGD am bob darpariaeth gofal plant cofrestredig yn Rhondda Cynon Taf
  • Rydyn ni’n cael gwybod am wasanaethau gofal plant sy heb eu cofrestru trwy nifer o wahanol ffyrdd
  • Llenwi holiadur Gwasanaeth Gwybodaeth i Deuluoedd

Sut mae darparwyr gofal plant yn gofalu bod Gwasanaeth Gwybodaeth i Deuluoedd yn cadw’r manylion cywir amdanyn nhw?
